Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair and operation products, is searching for a Contract Manager in our Legal Department for our Columbus, OH location.

General responsibilities for our Contract Manager include but are not limited to:

  • With regards to all customer and supplier contracts, manage and execute all aspects of each contract’s life cycle including contract review, negotiation, revision, execution, renewals, amendments, and compliance.
  • Working with the General Counsel, execute contracting strategies that advance the Company’s business plan and sales growth while maintaining an appropriate balance with business risk.
  • Provide direction and advice to internal and sales employees regarding contract obligations and compliance.
  • Select, implement, administer, and maintain contract management software or system.

This position requires the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Either: a minimum of five years of significant experience in contract negotiation, administration, and management, with the willingness to rotate through different departments at Kimball Midwest to build relationships and gain understanding of our business operations, culture, and personnel, including spending some time in the field; or, a minimum of five years in a management role with Kimball Midwest in which the employee built relationships and gained significant experience working with all internal departments and with sales personnel, with some exposure to contracting processes, and the willingness and ability to learn contract negotiation, administration, and management skills.
  • Computer proficiency. At a minimum, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook (including sending attachments), and internet search resources; experience with contract management software and/or subscription legal research service such as Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw/Practical Law Connect is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical ability and critical thinking skills coupled with integrity, pragmatism, and the ability to find simple, practical solutions to complex problems
  • An organized, hard-working, results-oriented self-starter who is able to appropriately prioritize competing projects, work effectively under stress and short time lines, respond quickly and with flexibility to evolving demands, and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor and a high level of thoroughness and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Highly customer service oriented with the ability to coordinate with and communicate proficiently with internal and sales colleagues, customers, suppliers, and members of the business and legal communities
  • Confident but humble and willing to learn new skills. Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels in the organization. Good sense of humor is a plus
  • Person who is dependable (i.e. reports to work, attends scheduled meetings and engagements, etc. barring any unforeseen circumstances)
  • Ability to work full time
